A NEW LIFE

JOURNAL: THURSDAY 5 NOVEMBER 2026

It’s been two days since mid-term voting in which the Democratic Party swept the nation. It still doesn’t seem real and Trump is doing everything he possibly can to make it seem unreal. He is just ignoring it, acting as if it never happened, and I’m sure that in his mind (what a dreadful thought) it never has. He is a sick man, a man who joys in calling other people sick. He would keep an army of therapists at work for ten lifetimes to figure out all the ins and outs of his illnesses.

But it is men like him who become leaders, the Hitlers of the world. Stephen Miller probably rivals him in mental illness. Miller is so arrogant and selfish and ruthless they won’t even let him go on camera anymore. He upsets people too much. You can see the Nazi in him too clearly. Trump has a way of presenting himself as a sort of buffoon that throws people off. I sincerely doubt that Steven Miller could make anybody laugh, much less an audience full of people.

Oh, God. That reminds me of that horrible fascist rally they had in Madison Square Garden just before the election in 2024. That didn’t seem real either. It was mesmerizing in some kind of way, but unbelievable as well. But, people still elected the wretched man. They still elected him.

Everyone on TV has been reduced to tears over the extent of the Democratic victory, celebrating the strength of democracy, the demonstration of goodness and justice. I can’t get there though. It’s just too soon. I can’t lose the feeling that if the economy were better, none of it would have happened. I may be wrong, but I think they would have voted for Republicans again if their diesel weren’t so expensive. But, I’m cynical. I have learned to be cynical about everything, but cats.

After late lunch with the Rugby guys and Don.

I want to start writing again and get my book published. I’m going to look for some books about South Georgia.

Sunday 8 November 2026

Bernie Thompson is on television promising to do something about ICE. We’ll see. Mike’s in Mobile with the Rugby guys and I’m at home doing cat duty. Sam sashed his ass in the front door and out the back door. So, it’s 9:30 and I still don’t have him inside.

It’s a beautiful day. Mike and Jim will be home tonight.
