There is one profound and fundamental difference between Israel and its enemies: Hamas wants to kill Jews because of who they are. They want to kill Jews not simply to fulfil their territorial aims but as a goal in its own right. Like the Nazis, they are committed to genocide.
For those who are in any doubt about the ambitions of Israel’s enemies, look no further than the words of its leaders. They make no attempt to hide their ambition to kill Jews.
In 2018, Yahya Sinwar, the Hamas leader in Gaza said: “We will take down the border (with Israel) and tear out their hearts from their bodies.” The following year, senior Hamas official Fathi Hamad proclaimed: “You have Jews everywhere and we must attack every Jew on the globe by way of slaughter and killing.”
On October 7, Hamas turned words into action, burning Jewish families alive in their homes, beheading civilians and using rape as a weapon of war. With twisted pride, one Hamas terrorist phoned home to tell his parents: “Look how many I killed with my own hands! Your son killed Jews!”
Following this pogrom, Hamas leaders celebrated their barbarism and called for it to be repeated. Sinwar proclaimed: “The leaders of the occupation should know. October 7 was just a rehearsal.” Ghazi Hamad, a member of the Hamas politburo, called for more attacks and the annihilation of Israel, saying “We will do this again and again.”
