The bill is not without controversy; many members of the coalition, including the National Unity party, have expressed their discontent with the bill, which would raise the burden on those who currently serve in the army and make no changes to the Ultra-Orthodox public’s exemptions from mandatory service. Despite this, they are expected to fast-track the legislation, bringing it to a vote in the coming weeks.
