SHORTS
Trump overturned the traffic stops of ICE, his people want action. They are going to go for a national emergency (book about Vance, first in the room National Emergency). Trump has nothing to lose.
Could I remind everybody that Trump told somebody on his staff that servicemen killed in action were suckers and losers? We have two more servicemen killed in Iran, or two killed and one missing. The “missing” part promises to be a true nightmare.
Just put more seeds in the birdfeeder. I’m waiting for the birds to come back. Sam is also waiting, laying at the slightly open sliding door to the upstairs patio.
TELEVISION: MSNOW WEEKEND, SPEECH, TRUMP PLANS
Steve Bannon: “…as bad as it was, Fox News didn’t do anything….Look, the Murdochs are 100%…hate Trump, they hate MAGA…If you watch Fox and support that crap, you are part of the problem…it was embarrassing on what they did after as they cut right away and went to their favorite topic, bombing Iran. We got a bomb Iran. Unbelievable.
Conversation with Angelo Carusone and Weekend hosts.
HOST: Fox had approximately 787,000,000 reasons not to engage in more conspiracy theories, Umm, but under larger ecosystem on the right, how did this land? How much were people actually talking about this?
Angelo: So it’s true about Fox and we should make it really explicit. I mean, after the speech ended, Bret Baier said, uh, that Fox News cannot confirm anything the president said. (They didn’t) Talk about it in prime time. They didn’t talk about it at all the next day. In fact, if you only watch Fox News, you would think the big speech this week was Marco Rubio?….you wouldn’t know anything about Trump’s speech. That’s how much they ignored it. And they went out of their way to ignore it. And sometimes that’s the way to help, right? Carry water.
But I think the larger message has been penetrated, this idea that elections are to be doubted. And that gets to how did it play broadly? Because the operators like the Steve Bannons, it was the faithful, the people that have been really diehard election deniers that have been waiting for him to make this a big thing and do something.
And then impatient people that they want something more substantial. They want action like a national emergency or the Insurrection Act. Those people are excited. The impatient people are still impatient. Yeah. But the rest of them got the message loud and clear, which is that this is the premier. And they can be easily measured…from that perspective. But to the key audience that he was speaking to, they’re ready to go. The people who might need to take action or whether that’s a running action or rhetorical action from now. That’s right. I mean, they see it as that is this is the moment to start to mobilize around not just, you know, local polling stations, but in particular the story that people who should not be voting are going to be voting. So anything and everything is (on the plan) independent investigations to track down people that shouldn’t be voting. If this was for them, this was the start.
Host: So you’re saying his supporters were not disappointed?
Angelo: They were not They were not disappointed.
ANGELO CORUSONE ABOUT SOLOMAN QUOTE OUTSIDE WHITEHOUSE
Angelo: “But what I think we can’t discount are a few things. One, that John Solomon guy, he’s a big bad news, OK? He’s a harbinger of bad news. And it’s worth remembering,”…regardless of …”that silly video, is that he is largely responsible for Donald Trump’s first impeachment. He was the one that was pushing the Giuliani Ukraine stuff that Trump sort of ran with. This guy has a long track record. He is a, a, a sort of…a pied piper of” conspiracy theories “that Trump is willing to run with. And the second thing is that it gets to the point that you’re talking about the people around him. Let’s talk about some of those people, this week JD Vance went on Joe Rogan’s podcast and said that Spencer Pratt is the illegitimate mayor of Los Angeles, that the election was stolen. So they may not want to carry water for Venezuela or China stealing the election or some kind of, uh, Italian satellites involve switching votes…”
“….the predicate (is) that something big is here, here and it requires increased action. And it’s not just Vance. The people around that are in key positions like, you know, uh, (Heather Honey ?), who’s inside DHS… She was an election denier. Now she’s a government official. But my point is these people don’t need to storm the capital anymore. They (are)…part of the government. So the audiences are small, but the actors are significant.
Host: John Solomon, the former journalist who now works on the task force for the election. But I wanna go back to what you were saying that that his supporters were not disappointed by this speech because I was talking to a former Trump administration official who said that the president, he created a base that loves the guillotine. That was what this former official said. And so this official was essentially. Skeptical that his base would be happy with this speech because there were no charges that were brought as a result of it. So do you think that even though maybe in the immediate they are pleased with what the president did that if they don’t see any real action, they’re going to not turn out for the Republicans?”
Angelo: …That’s the category the impatient that’s the largest audience. They’re done with this. They don’t care about the details anymore. They’re sold. You don’t need to sell them now. They want they want charges. They want action. And it’s worth keeping in mind that That audience is already disappointed about all the Epstein stuff.”
“They’re fired and then (they’re fed up with Trump) constantly doing this long con next week, next week we’re going to do something, not getting any action. And they have blood lust they want, they have bloodlust. And so you’re right, there’s very, very short shelf life here for him to actually take action. And the the singular action that they want is a national emergency and a massive crackdown. And I think that’s where the you see that he sort of overturned that, that sort of pause on these, on these stop actions because he knows his audience is they’re impatient, they want something. And even though they’re not exactly together, they’re a little bit connected. And so that is going to be the real determiner. It’s either going to be a total flop that is going to, you know, upset his audience even more, or it’s going to be that impatience is going to actually lead to acceleration and increased activity.
Host: Are they going to get what they want, the impatient, do you think in the end?
Angelo: “I do. I think that they are going to go for a national emergency. I think all the pieces are there. But how many times Vance is the first one in the room to say National Emergency Insurrection Act? The people that (could function as) “any of the speed bumps or the friction that would stop this is not. And I think from Trump’s perspective, he has nothing to lose.”
“….even if it doesn’t work out, when it’s all over, he gets to continue to attack the elections. And that’s what they want, right? They want to undermine and continue to break it.”
LIFE NOTES
There are three cardinals at the bird feeder and I saw a titmouse earlier. It’s unusual to see so many cardinals together. I think all three were females. Again, not usual. I wonder if they are part of the same family. Usually, one female will come and eat and her husband will wait in the tree overseeing, to make sure she’s alright. It’s so touching. Maybe this was the mother and two daughters.
Whoops, now the squirrel is back. The birdfeeders (or more accurately the squirrel feeders) hang from a frame and so the squirrels like to do acrobatics on them, sometimes scaring me to death by making the birdfeeder hit “Wham,” the window pane of the bedroom where I work.
