But the real enemy, the one we have always been at war against, is the violence and despair of our own timidity, selfishness, and greed. For too long, we have responded to this enemy with appeasement. But appeasement has proven to be a losing strategy, as indeed it always is. The only way we will have any chance of overcoming the challenge of our present moment is by bringing everyone together, emphasizing our common cause, and committing to building institutions that reflect and reinforce basic notions of universal solidarity. Rohan Grey, The Nation Magazine.

- âIn another public message, he defended recruiting rapists and murders on the basis that it meant âyour sonsâ would not be sent to the front. Weeks later Putin announced a mobilisation that has sent around 300,000 extra men to war.â
- Telegraph: âThe Institute for the Study of War in its latest report on Tuesday said that Mr Prigozhin was âestablishing himself as a political force, using his popular status and his affiliation with Wagner to criticise his opponents within elite circlesâ.
- In testimony to British parliament on Tuesday, Russian dissident Mikhail Khodorkovsky confirmed reports of Mr Prigozhinâs special place in Putinâs court, describing him as a âsignificant tool for the Kremlinâ.
- âThe number of meetings with the dictator is the only currency thatâs in demand in that regime, and Mr Prigozhin has got a lot of those meetings,â said Mr Khodorkovsky, who was released after a decade in Russian prison in 2013, and was formerly the countryâs richest man.â

All you have to do is read this book to see how Robert Mueller was either a Chickenshit (See book by Eisinger) or part of the project to cover up the Trump/Russia collusion. Neither alternative is a good one.

Rachael Maddow said tonight that she feels there is something different going on; that a corner has been turned. I feel the same way although I canât explain why.
I have watched many Trump rallies, all the way through and taken notes, but tonight, I watched a murderous thug of a moron scream lies at other morons who were wildly cheering the lies he was screaming at them. The man, the moron, has been allowed to displace 160,000 human beings and provoke the murder of countless men and women who used to be our allies.
This must be the way it felt in Germany to stand and watch and listen to obscenity, unbelievable obscenity being swallowed whole by people who could be your neighbors. It must be what it was like watching lunacy gathering steam, plowing ahead, taking over.
It is like being in an earthquake. The thing you depend on, the ground, is moving underneath you and you are completely disoriented. In this case, the thing that I value and depend on most in the world, logic, reason, truth is moving underneath me. The culture is being taken over by lies and deception, sham truth, blatant illogic and the people who have assumed authority are saying âget used to it.â
Sinclair Lewis wrote a novel entitled âIt Canât Happen Here.â Well, it is happening here, but the Democratic leadership is saying: âItâs not happening here.â âWe must be prayerful.â âItâs not happening here.â They keep repeating it over and over thinking that it will become the truth if they say it enough times.
They abide by the norms, act with politeness, come to work every day (when they are not on recess) raise money, admonish the Trump administration, chat up donors, help fellow Republicans get unqualified judges appointed to the courts because their fellow Republicans helped them. They talk about a return to normalcy when normalcy is what go us here. It is mass delusion.
The leadership of the Democratic Party, the corporate media, and the moneyed elite want to pretend this country has not been taken over by a Russian asset and his enablers who are involved in varying degrees with an international crime syndicate and allied with a radical religious quest for power.
People like Bill Barr and Mitch McConnell have been waiting for, planning for a Donald Trump for decades. They have their man and they are not going to give up. They have cast their lot with Trump and they will tear the country apart to maintain and expand their power.
Meanwhile, nice people, good people, like Joyce Vance will continue to tell everyone that our institutions will hold, that dedicated professionals in government will assure that justice vanquishes all.
The time to be nice is over. Those who donât want to fight, who donât understand that it is essential to fight, need to get out of the way.

- According to Axois, Trump is now laying the 25 July phone call with Ukrainian President Zelensky, at the feet of Rick Perry. Trump told House Republicans that he made the phone call at the urging of Perry and claimed that he didnât even want to make the call.
- Perry has recently announced that he is leaving his position as Energy Secretary amid reports that while making steep cuts to the budget of the Energy Department he closed needed programs. He then created a program specifically to oversee Artificial Intelligence. He allocated $119 million in funding for AI in 2020. Perryâs wife owns stock in Verizon, AT&T and Splunk, companies that are prioritizing AI technology and likely to benefit from such an office.
- Such an effort is much like (if on a smaller scale) Elaine Chaoâs special pipelines for Kentucky grants that would be politically helpful for her husband, Mitch McConnell.
- Politico has reported (10/1/19) that House Democratic members have been pressing Perry for information about his May trip to the inauguration of Ukraineâs President, Zelensky. The House sent a letter posing questions to Perry about Trumpâs pressure on Ukraine to investigate Biden. A similar letter was sent to Pence.
- Perry has also been a regular visitor to Saudi Arabia where he traveled in 2017 to convince the Saudis to partner with the U.S. in developing nuclear reactors.
- In July, Ambassador to the European Union, Gordon Sondland, described himself, Perry and Volker as the âthree amigosâ on Ukrainian issues.
- On another front of graft and corruption: One of the supposed adults in the room with Trump was former Chief of Staff John Kelly. I cannot count the number of times I sat on front of the television and listened to commentator after commentator stress how Kelly was a man of integrity, blah, blah, blah. Well, AP is pointing out in an article (10/3/19) that the Trump administration is directing more and more of the business of housing and detaining migrant children to private industry, specifically to a company, Caliburn, where Kelly sits on the board.
- While Kelly was in the Trump administration, he backed the idea of taking children from their parents at the border, arguing that it would serve as a deterrent. He is now personally profiting off policies he helped craft.
- When Kelly left the military, he served on an advisory council for the Obama Administration that studied ICEâs continued use of privately operated immigration detention facilities for adults. Later that year, the federal government announced plans to phase out privately run prisons. That would all change when Trump took office.
- While Kelly was serving on this committee, he joined the board of DC Capital partners, a financial firm that would go on to found Caliburn.
- CHS is owned by belt-way contractor Caliburn International Corp. CHS staffs a large Florida facility with 2,000 workers even though the last children left the facility in August.  The Trump administration maintains that CHS is keeping the facility in readiness in case it is needed.
- In 2015, CHS was paid $1.3 million to shelter migrant children. So far this year, they have been paid almost $300 million. The AP estimates that it costs the taxpayers $775 a day to house these migrant children.
