American Strikes Middle East (4:30 PM)
- We don’t know the exact targets in Iraq and Syria.
- Iranian ships are suspected to help Houthis target ships, there is a question of whether US would hit those ships.
- Commentators are saying that this will continue and not just be confined to this first strike.
- Appears to be a strike on a weapons supply route, running from Iraq to Syria.
- The government of Iraq has objected to US operations in the country. They do not want to drive Iraq into Iran’s hands.? Iran has wanted to push the US out of Iraq entirely.
- Reporting 85 targets and bombers flying from the US. “a serious operation.” (MSNBC)
- Naming the Iranian Revolutionary Guard as a target.
- It’s not a long-term solution.
- Alicia Menendez (who we seem stuck with forever) just said that the US informed Iran before we attacked. Jack Jacobs then said that this was standard, and that sometimes in the past we told them where we were going to attack. This is to “give comfort to the Iranians” that we are not going to attack them. (Note: What? What? So this was just a big show? We could have given those weapons to Ukraine and had them put to good use. What?)
- Jacobs says this is a battle between Iran and Saudia Arabia for control and dominance of the region. This will continue whether we are there or not. A “measured response” is the right thing to do.
- There has to be significantly more violence that doesn’t engage Iran, says Jacobs.
Israel
- Reporting that the IDF is moving toward Raffah. (Where will Palestinians go?)
Ukraine
- Europe is getting more money to Ukraine.
US
- Connecticut has cancelled a substantial portion of medical debt.
- Florida’s de Santis has sent the Florida National Guard to Texas to further spend money and erode the federal government and democracy.
