I fussed and fretted yesterday over the State of the Union Address (SOTU) and then fell asleep waiting for Biden to enter the Congress.

So, this morning, after watching the coverage, I phoned the office of Mike Johnson and left a message saying how juvenile and disrespectful his behavior was last night.  Biden’s reaction to the horrid, horrid MTG was great, just right. 

Lately, many of my very negative posts about Biden and the DNC are coming back on my “Memories” feed.  I did not support Biden.  I will never, never forgive him for Anita Hill and I was vehemently opposed to his nomination.  I thought the Democratic convention was an artificial, canned, disgrace.  It was only Bernie Sanders that dragged me back into interest in electoral politics.

But even though all the criticisms and objections were true, the ship has sailed.  The individuals entering the Scottish prison system in the 80s signed a form which had a space where they were to provide a handwriting sample.  The sentence they had to write was: “When I arrived at the dock it was to find that the ship I was sailing on was gone.”  That just floored me.  I can’t think of a more dismal or gratuitously cruel sentence to have them write.

But, nevertheless, the ship has sailed for us as well as for the Scottish inmates.  There is too much at stake not to vote for Joe Biden.  I won’t be happy about it.  Late yesterday afternoon when I read that the Biden administration was going to allow Trump to get intelligence briefings, I wanted to figure out a way to vote for Biden under protest, but I am going to vote for Biden.

Every thinking person needs to get themselves to the polls and vote Democratic.  That’s all there is to it.  You either vote Democratic or you will never vote again in a meaningful way. 

I do not think people in this country understand what it would mean to live in an authoritarian country, a country without a functioning rule of law.  I keep telling Mike, there are going to be a lot of people walking around saying “They can’t do that.” And yes, yes they can because you handed them the keys.
