MORNING NEWS NOTES: BIDEN RESIGNATION, REPUBLICAN REACTION, Secret Service Head Testimony

Well, of course, the Republicans are saying that if Biden is not competent to run for office again, he is not competent to run the country and should resign.  They are also playing off the obvious non-democratic nature of the anointing of Kamala Harris.

MSNBC

• Trump had a “melt down” on Truth Social last night, according to Sam Stein. 
• (Note: The media is delighted with this turn of events, they just cannot contain their glee.)
• Manchin (bastard) is threatening to run as an Independent and a Democrat both.
• (Note: They are talking about Biden’s polling numbers. First, polling is not accurate, second, Harris’ poll numbers are not much better then Biden’s).

Note: The cats are all back in bed, napping grumpy.  They go out every morning for their walk which usually lasts about an hour.  Today, just when they were finishing breakfast our “Monday Mexies”, the sweet Mexican guys whose landscaping company maintains the yard next door, arrived.  So, the cherished morning walk got cut short.   So, they are back inside, two of them (Hiram and Mustard) are in the bed with me, feeling very sorry for themselves.  It’s Monday and Biden has still dropped out of the race.

• Right-wing press purposefully mispronounces Harris’ first name.
• Part of Biden’s decision was the drying up of funding.  Just since last night, there has been an uptick in donations.  (Note: When you put the country up for sale, big donors, including the media, call the tune).
• Sharpton is claiming that Harris is ready for the hate campaign from the Republicans.  Nobody, nobody can be ready for the kind of hate campaign that these people conduct.
• (Note: The Biden campaign thought they were ready for Trump when they courted a debate.  Obviously, they weren’t prepared and Trump didn’t even behave as badly as he usually does.  The debate, as some of us knew it would, turned into a disaster.)
• (Note: I don’t know enough about Harris’ record, but I don’t know of any progressive policy she has advocated or endorsed.)

10:00 AM

• Cheatle (head of the SS) testifies this morning.  Johnson has called for her to resign.
• (Note: She claimed that a decision was made that the slope of the roof of the building used by the shooter was deemed to be too dangerous to put SS agents there.  It’s a terrible argument.)

Fox

• The head of the Secret Service testifies before congress today.  That should be pleasant.
• Harris covered up Biden’s mental decline, Fox already has ads saying that. 
• One of the issues Harris has is that she can’t seem to get along with staff. 
• Axios reporter: Alex Thompson: of the 47 members of her staff in first year, only five are still there. 
• Biden doubted Harris’ election chances.

NewsNation

• Covering the hearing testimony by Cheatle.
• SS initially blamed local law enforcement, saying they were responsible for covering that building.

• The dreadful Mark Halperin is on NewsMax.

AMVO

• (Note: AMVO is having guests in to cover for Steve Bannon, who is in jail as they all should be.)
• Anchor is saying that Biden may wake up this morning and wonder who sent out that letter of resignation.  She is implying that “inside forces” may have been involved.
• Anchor saying that Harris probably threatened to invoke the 25^th amendment if Biden didn’t step down. 

(Note: My stomach is churning.)
